Planning a Party (Intermediate)

Practice on Your Own

Imagine you are studying or living in a country where the language is spoken. You and your friends want to plan a party. It could be a birthday party, going away party, holiday party, etc. You will need to discuss all the details.

  • Make a list of things you will need to discuss with your friends. The list should be in the language you are studying. For example:
    • Date and time for the party
    • Location
    • Food and drinks
    • Music/dancing/other entertainment
    • Who to invite and how to invite them
    • And anything else you can think of…
  • Be prepared to talk about all of these things in the conversation session. Review dates and times, food vocabulary, or anything else you need to brush up on.

Practice in Conversation Session

  • With your conversation partner and fellow students, decide on an occasion for the party (birthday, holiday, etc.).
  • Have a group discussion about the details for the party. Make sure you cover everything on your list, as well as any other details your fellow students thought of.
  • Do parties in your country tend to be different from parties in the country/ies where the language is spoken?
