Missing a Dinner Party (Intermediate)
Practice on Your Own
Imagine your friend invited you to their house for a dinner party. You get sick the night before the dinner is planned. You have to send a message or call your friend to inform them that you cannot come.
- Practice the words for sick, fever, upset stomach, etc., or whatever reason you want to give.
- Practice writing a message in a few sentences.
- Create a dialogue between you and your friend (on the phone) in which you tell your friend about your sickness and that you are sorry for being unable to come. Also practice the conversation out loud.
Practice in Conversation Session
- Tell your conversation partner and other classmates the vocabulary that you have prepared in the target language.
- Do a role play where you call your friend to explain that you are sick and therefore you cannot make it to the dinner party.
- Do another role play where your role play partner will play the role of the sick friend and you are the one who organized the dinner party.
