Practice on Your Own

• Make a list of all the religious holidays and festivals that you know are celebrated in the country/ies where the language is spoken.
• Prepare a list of some questions you might want to ask about how various festivals are celebrated and why they are celebrated.

• Compare and contrast what you know about holiday and festival observances in your own country with what you are discovering about holidays and festivals in the country/ies you are learning about.

  Practice in Conversation Session

• Be prepared to tell your conversation partner the names of various holidays and festivals that are celebrated in the country/ies where the language is spoken and when those holidays are observed.
• Be prepared to ask questions about different festivals. Ask why they are celebrated and how people celebrate them.
• Be prepared to compare and contrast how religious holidays and festivals are observed in your home country with how they are observed in the country/ies where the language you are learning is spoken.
