Asking for Directions

A sign welcoming visitors to Belgrade, Serbia

In Serbia, one can always ask directions of strangers. There is a tourist information office in the center of every city and town. Maps are widely available in bookstores, newspaper stands and cultural information booths. It is important to know that in cities, streets are often not marked with signs. Instead, the street name is written or embossed on the buildings.
