Lodging
Choices of lodging include hotels, motels, and local homes. For the first two categories, the price usually includes breakfast. Most hotels have restaurants and offer a variety of meal plans ranging from breakfast only to full board. Payment is generally in cash, but major hotels accept credit cards. At hotels, the clerk will need a form of identification from everyone checking in to keep for the duration of the stay. One should not leave a passsport for identification, but rather, another form of identification instead!
In tourist areas, individuals will stand near bus or train stations advertising rooms for rent in their own homes. Unless one knows Romania very well, it is better to avoid such situations and head for a hotel. It is less expensive to stay in local residences along the Black Sea coast, and is sometimes possible to rent an entire house in tourist areas such as the Moldavian Monasteries or the Black Sea.
