Calendar and Holidays
In Romania, dates are written with the day first, then the month and year. For example: 6 October 1999. People often have the day off from work on major Orthodox or Catholic religious holidays. Some examples: January 6th - Jesus' Baptism, January 7th -Saint John, March 24th - Good Welcoming, April - Easter, May 21 - Saints Constantine and Elena, August 15th -Virgin Mary, December 6th - Saint Nicolas, December 25- Christmas. The Romanian National Day is on December 1st. Women's Day on March 1st, Mothers' Day on March 8th, and Children's Day on June 1st.
