Asking for Directions

An architectural site with a dome atop it

It is polite to stop someone one in the street to ask directions. However, a male should not stop a female; nor a female stop a male. If someone of the same gender cannot be found, a good alternative would be to ask a shopkeeper or a street vendor. Shop vendors are more likely to speak English than street vendors. There are very few central places for tourist information. Arrive with a good guidebook and get help from hosts and hotel staff.
