Food Shopping
There are many chain supermarkets in Nicaragua. As well, each city and town has at least one open market that sells fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, meat, poultry and dairy products. Markets are generally open from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. seven days a week. They tend to stay open later on major holidays such as Christmas.
In smaller neighborhoods, convenience stores operate out of private homes. Products range from simple staples such as milk, soda and bread, to fresh meat and sometimes even paper goods and cosmetics.
