Cars and Driving

The disparity between life in the cities and in the country is evident in the vehicles one finds. The cities are predictably full of cars, whereas in the countryside, cars are a rare commodity. One is more likely to see farmers traveling slowly in older trucks or tractors.

It is essential to take special care when driving in Morocco, particularly at night. Even when one has the right of way, one should be vigilant in looking to see that no one else is coming, since drivers have a tendency to run stop lights and stop signs.

Motor scooters and bicycles are popular particularly in cities that tend to be flat. Either is easy to rent if one is willing to leave a small deposit.
For long distance traveling, gas stations are plentiful and easy to find.
