Eating Out
In Morocco, a typical breakfast would be either toast or a croissant with cheese or jam, yogurt with fresh oranges, or crepes with butter and honey. Children drink milk and adults drink either coffee or tea.
Moroccan cuisine features many dishes that are both salty and sweet. It is not uncommon for a meal to begin with many different kinds of vegetable dips eaten with pita bread. Tagines are popular stews made with apricots or prunes, with either chicken, lamb, or beef as the meat. Fried meat or fish is often served with couscous. Vegetable dips and western-style salads with dressing are also popular. For dessert, there are usually the fruits of the season, various puddings, and in summer, ice cream. After lunch it is a treat to have traditional French or Moroccan pastries filled with chocolate or almonds.
