One can find both coin and card operated public phones. Phone cards are sold at convenience stores and can be used for both domestic and international calls. Cell phones can be rented, although the lease is often expensive. Phone numbers consist of a one or two digit city code, plus a seven digit local number. The city code for Amman is 6.
