Trains
Only Java has regular train routes, other regions of Indonesia do not. Trains have three different classes of service, each accomodated in separate cars. Economy class which tends to be very hot and crowded is mostly used by small vendors going places to sell their wares. Business class is an affordable alternative used by many people, especially by students. Business class cars usually have fans, thus while warm, they are not unbearably hot. Only the most expensive class, executive class, is air-conditioned.
Trains run on a set schedule and tickets should be purchased ahead of time. Only cash is accepted for train tickets. Riders have assigned seats. The trains have restrooms on board, and also offer food and soft drinks. Trains usually stop in every city along their route.
