Pedestrian Crossings

A pedestrian crosswalk on a rainy street

Pedestrians should use crosswalks to cross streets. If there are traffic lights present, there are also "walk" lights (green walking figure) and "don't walk" lights (red stationary figure). If the intersection is a particularly busy one, pedestrians must press the button in order to get a "walk" sign. If there are no traffic lights, then the pedestrian must carefully step out onto the crosswalk indicating that they want to cross. Traffic should give the pedestrian the right of way.
