Libraries

The front of a public library

Most communities, even fairly small towns, have a public library. Visitors can usually go in to read even if they do not have a card to check materials out. Residents obtain a library card by filling out a form and showing proper identification. Some libraries may have Internet access, but it is not common. There are some Internet cafes in Germany but not many. Visitors should plan on searching a bit to find a place to check e-mail or the web. Yellow page directories can be a useful resource for locating Internet access. The directories are available in phone booths and at post offices.
