Eating at Home
When invited to a home for a meal, one should ask if they can bring something. Usually the host will say that nothing is needed, and it is not considered rude not to bring anything along. However, it is also fine to bring something small, such as flowers or a bottle of wine.
In some households, shoes are left outside the door; in others, shoes are worn into the house. It is simply a matter of observing and following suit. When one is dining in a household that is less affluent, one may find oneself sitting on the floor to eat. Again, it is best to simply follow the example of the host.
