Asking for Directions

It is acceptable to ask pedestrians for directions. If no one is nearby, one can always go inside the nearest store and ask a clerk. Many towns have information centers that offer maps as well as pamphlets that give a history of the town and hours of exhibits and museums. These centers have internet access and can assist a visitor with hotel reservations. One can expect centers to be open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. They close for an hour at mid-day for lunch and are sometimes open until later in the day during the height of the tourist season.
