Taking a Taxi
One does not typically hail cabs in Croatia; they can be called directly or taken from one of the numerous taxi stands throughout the cities. The rate scale is clearly outlined at the stands with a sign indicating the initial charge, the charge per kilometer, the idling charge, the fee for excess luggage, and the rate increases during Sundays and holidays. Taxi travel is fairly expensive by Croatian standards and most Croatians prefer to use a combination of trams, buses or trains.
