Driving a Car

Significant city traffic, narrow one-way streets, and a lack of parking make driving a challenge in Bulgaria. At large, busy intersections, one often finds a police booth located above the traffic. When necessary, an officer can exit the booth, come down and direct traffic. On the highways, police use radar guns to monitor speeding and issue tickets. One must be at least 18 to get a license.

When parking, one should choose a secure lot with an attendant. Pay attention to the surroundings when parking, particularly if the car is new and attractive. Since there is a high incidence of theft, it is necessary to detach and remove all electronic equipment from an unattended car.
