Questions
Find the syllabus online for the course in which you expect to enroll. If your course syllabus is not yet available, choose a syllabus for a similar course in any language. Students are expected to come to the first sessions with material already prepared. Please summarize what your syllabus indicates you need to prepare for your first tutorial and for your first conversation session.
Check your syllabus for instructions about how to get your text materials. What is your plan for how and when you will purchase your texts? If you have any difficulties in getting the text in time for the start of the semester, what does the tutorial say about how you should proceed?
Based on what you have learned in this tutorial, what is your daily study plan for the semester?
If you need help related to course logistics (such as materials access, schedules, room assignments, or final evaluation scheduling), how should you proceed?
Describe in you own words what happens if you miss a session. Do you already know of any factors which may cause you to be absent? You should discuss these with the program staff before the start of the semester.
Study the course requirements and grading policy on your syllabus. Make note of questions you have about any of the following:
  1. the course content you are responsible for when it comes time for final evaluations;
  2. when your weekly homework is due;
  3. when the weekly self-assessments are due;
  4. what type of evaluations will take place and what percentage of your grade is determined by the evaluations.
Because program staff members communicate with students on five different campuses, we rely on email as the primary means of communication. Please summarize what the tutorial says about the type of attention to email and other communication that is necessary for students to successfully take care of the logistical aspects of the course.
