Using the Telephone

Ghana has an adequate system of land-based telephone lines, but the lines do not yet extend to all suburbs. For this reason, cell phones have gained in popularity, and may be used even more commonly than landlines. Mobile telephone companies continue to expand the range of territory available to cell phone users.

In the villages, there are communication centers where one can make a call, then pay the attendant, based on a per-minute charge. In some of the less remote communications centers, there are also fax and photocopy services.
