Turkish in Turkey

Gas Stations

A blue gas station sign

There are no self-service gas stations in Turkey. Most are privately owned and prices vary, so it pays to shop around. A gas station offers gas, oil, air for tires and frequently a car wash (paid separately or as a promotion with the purchase of gas). Some car engines are altered to run on cheaper and more environmentally friendly natural gas. Some stations offer only this energy source for drivers and will have signs for "gas." This is the Turkish word for "natural gas" and should not be confused with the type of gas used in autos. Credit cards are widely accepted.
