Restrooms

A sign indicating a public pay toilet

You will find both "European" and "Arabic" toilets in Tanzania. Generally, public toilets are the so-called "Arabic" variety. Public toilets are pay toilets (you must pay the attendant), and they often do not stock toilet paper or soap, so if you want it, bring it with you. The traditional method of clean-up is water, and you will find either a spigot or a bucket in the restroom. Despite initial appearances, the public toilets are quite clean.
