Pedestrians

A pedestrian crossing sign

Since there are no walk lights at pedestrian crossings, a pedestrian must wait for a red light. It is essential never to cross without looking, since it is common for drivers to accelerate at a yellow light, thus causing danger for pedestrians. There are rotaries in the center of Managua where there are no sidewalks. In these areas, pedestrians must take special care to cross quickly and stay out of the way of cars. Intersections tend to be less crowded and calmer in the cities of Granada and Leon.
