Buses Between Cities

.
Buses that travel between cities in Nicaragua generally leave from an open air bus stop at each of the city’s markets. On their way from city to city, buses stop in all of the smaller towns; thus, can be used for local travel as well. A traveler has the option of either buying a ticket in advance or paying on the bus. Enclosed bus stations in the larger cities offer vending machines, bathrooms and newspaper stands. Otherwise, the bus driver’s assistant sells sodas. When the bus stops, there are often vendors that come on board to sell sodas and snacks. Although buses run frequently throughout the day, they can still be crowded and tend to run behind schedule.
