A pharmacy receipt

Pharmacies are the only places where medications are for sale. Most common drugs, such as aspirin and cold medications, are sold without a prescription. Controlled medications are only sold with a doctor’s prescription. It is important to know that once medicine of any kind has been purchased, it cannot be returned. Members of the pharmacy staff are not trained to give medical attention.

In big cities, there is usually a system whereby at least one pharmacy is open all night for emergency patients. The local information line can be found in the phone book under emergency numbers.
