Serbian in Serbia

Greetings and Partings

Two people greeting each other

In Serbia, close friends greet one another by exchanging three kisses on alternate cheeks, although currently there is a trend of friends kissing one another only once. When an older person is introduced to someone his or her own age or younger, they shake hands. If it is a more familiar relationship, they may shake hands and kiss three times. For business events, one always shakes hands.
