Hungarian in Hungary

Telling Time

A clock tower

Hungarians use the 24-hour clock when time is written, and the 12-hour clock when time is spoken about. The letters "d.e." designate "a.m." while "d.u." designate "p.m."

It is considered polite to be five or ten minutes late for social engagements; however, one should never be more than thirty minutes late. It is also considered impolite to be early.
