Emergencies

In the case of an emergency, the telephone number for police is 113, and for fire, 112. When an ambulance is needed, one must call the police. There is usually one police station per district. There are about five hospitals in the capitol and several smaller hospitals out of town. City hospital emergency rooms rotate their days of operation. In a medical emergency, the police or the pharmacist will know which emergency room is open. In the case of an illness that is not an emergency, a traveler would either consult the yellow pages to find a general practitioner or ask the hotel for a reference.

Luxembourg is a relatively safe country, with streets that are populated and well lit. Although common sense is always a must, a visitor need not be abnormally vigilant.
