The Post Office

A post office

Each city or town has a central post office, and large cities may also have smaller branch offices. At the central post office, one can mail letters and packages and purchase phone cards, tokens, stamps, envelopes, and post cards. Residents also have the option of paying various utility bills. Across from the post office in Sofia is a separate building which contains fax machines and phones for international calls.

A letter mailed within the country usually takes three to five days. When mailing packages to destinations outside the country, the customer must must bring the package to the post office unsealed. Customs officials will inspect the contents before sealing it to be mailed.
