Eating Out

A plate of Bulgarian food

It is a good idea to make reservations since eating out is popular pasttime, particularly among young people. Menus consist mostly of pork and lamb, so vegetarians may have to plan carefully. A 10% tip is appropriate, but first, check to see if service is included in the bill. If so, it is not necessary to leave a tip. Fancier restaurants will have a non-smoking section.

Clubs often serve light foods such as salads, appetizers, and light entrees. There are also small eating places that specialize in beer and fried potatoes and sometimes have live music and dancing. One can find take-out places such as Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonald's and often delivery services for pizza and Chinese food.
