Urdu is the national language of Pakistan and has been influenced by Persian and Arabic. Urdu is closely related to and mutually intelligible with Hindi, especially in everyday use. Taken together, Hindi and Urdu are some of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with about 544 million total speakers.
