Lodging
Hotels and resorts are rated by the international star system. Reservations are not always necessary; often it is sufficient simply to stop and ask for vacancies. Hotels usually have restaurants, although cost-conscious guests may find it cheaper to buy prepared food from vendors on the street or at nearby markets. In general, people do not tip porters or the cleaning staff. In addition to hotels, small guest houses in downtown Bangkok provide inexpensive and simple accommodation, although without the amenities of larger hotels.
