Restrooms

Public restrooms in Kenya vary in terms of cleanliness and safety. One is warned to take particular care with restrooms on the streets in cities and towns since they can be unclean and often unsafe. An alternative is to choose restrooms in malls, hotels, train stations, fast food restaurants and churches. For a traveler, some stores may bend the rule of not allowing a customer to use the facilities, in which case, one would reciprocate the courtesy with a small tip. Restrooms in major depots of city-operated buses are now getting a new face lift. Individually run agencies clean and charge a small fee to maintain them for public use.
