Using a Telephone
Most average-income families in Nicaragua have local and long distance telephone service from home. Public telephones are easily found in malls, hotels, at the airport, and around the university. One can also occasionally find a pay telephone at a convenience store. Pay phones are operated by phone cards or coins; phone cards are for sale at most stores. As in many other countries, the use of cell phones is steadily increasing.
