Travelling by Train

A blue train stopped at a train station

Travel by train is better and easier in Romania than by bus. Tickets are for sale at the train station. One must specify first or second class, and one-way or round-trip when ordering a ticket. If you do not specify, you will get a second class ticket. Train schedules use the 24-hour clock. The conductor will validate the ticket on the train after travel has begun. At each stop, s/he will walk through the car again to validate tickets of those who have just entered the train. If it is uncertain who has already had a ticket validated, the conductor will ask to see the tickets. A fine can result from an invalidated ticket.
