Travel Around the Country

Decades of the recently ended civil war made travel between cities extremely difficult since many of the roads and passes were not safe from attack. Trains only ran between some of the provinces, and buses were used to travel between those cities regarded as safe destinations. Given that the war has ended, systems of travel are improving. As it stands, buses are considered safe methods of transportation. They are comfortable and air conditioned with restrooms and television. One can get information by calling either of the companies. The routes of the trains are less extensive.

Although the war is ended, safety is still a concern. Many Angolans still feel uncomfortable traveling from city to city by car. It is advisable to get a number of opinions on the safety of one's route and destination when traveling outside of the cities.
