Street Food Vendors

A person talking to a street vegetable vendor

Street food vendors are quite common in the cities. They sell items ranging from sweets to boiled eggs with spices. The sweets one can find on the street include homemade ice cream, pastries and cookies as well as a traditional crunchy Angolan candy made of peanuts and coconut.

Vendors sell sandwiches, salty turnovers, and sodas. Hot dogs and hamburgers are sold at inviting roadside stands. As in all situations, travelers are advised to assess the general safety of a food stand before making a purchase. One is safest, as a rule, in buying sweets. One should only drink water that is bottled, boiled, or chemically treated.
