The most important holiday is the New Year; stores, businesses, and schools nationwide close from January 1-3. Other holidays are decided by the institutions involved. The work week varies by company, but is normally from Monday to Saturday. The school week is Monday through Friday. Stores have their own schedules and their holidays vary. Hair salons are always closed on Tuesdays. Post offices and banks are open from Monday to Friday. Post offices are open from around 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., whereas banks may close as early as 3:00 p.m.
