Recycling and Trash

Recycling and trash are managed most efficiently. There are public trash cans everywhere, and bins can be found in public and residential areas for recycling paper, plastic and glass. Near supermarkets and shopping centers, one will often find large containers for batteries, old medicine, light bulbs and other kinds of recyclables.

There is no residential trash pickup in the cities; residents bring household garbage to neighborhood dumpsters. In some cities, trucks come to pick up recyclables on designated days. Residential recycling bins are normally found in the vicinity of residential dumpsters.

Recycling requirements vary by city. In some cities it is mandatory, with attendant fines for not complying. In other cities, it is not mandatory; however, citizens are highly encouraged to recycle, and there are often concrete incentives.
