A traveler in need of a doctor should consult the host or manager of the lodging in order to get a recommendation for a trustworthy, local doctor. Neither doctor's visits nor medications are particularly expensive. Frequently there are doctors in the markets who are inexpensive. Pharmacies (called chemists) dispense medicines both with and without prescriptions.

In matters such as theft of a passport, foreigners should get in touch with their consulate or embassy for help. Do not attempt to navigate the police system without local help.
