Greek in Greece

Postal Services

A small yellow mailbox

In Greece, the post office processes mail and sells stamps; unlike some other countries, there are no additional functions. Central offices are located in the cities with many convenient branches throughout the suburbs and towns. On the islands, there is usually at least one post office. On the smallest islands, it is not uncommon for mail to be delivered to a central restaurant or store. The proprietor would then be in charge of dispensing letters and packages, and contacting any residents who do not collect their mail.
