Greetings and Partings
Close friends and family members usually greet one another with a kiss on each cheek. When being introduced, people who don't know one another shake hands; however, after one or two encounters, they may begin using two kisses. In more formal situations, a handshake or even a simple hello will suffice. Departures are handled the same way: with either kisses or a handshake.
Greece is a warm and hospitable country where friendliness is a part of daily life. It is usefull for a traveler to begin any kind of commerce or business transaction with a friendly greeting. Questions about Greece and its culture are always welcome, and lively conversation is the norm.
