Traveling by Train

A train station

Train travel is easy and fairly inexpensive in Croatia. Tickets are for sale at the train station. Specify that the ticket should be one-way or round trip and first or second class. If you do not specify, you will get a second class ticket. Find the track noting that the "peron" (platform) is indicated by Arabic numerals in the waiting area but Roman numerals on the platform itself. Train schedules use the 24-hour clock.

The conductor will validate the ticket on the train after travel has begun. At each stop, s/he will walk through the car again to validate tickets of those who have just entered the train. If it is uncertain who has already had a ticket validated, the conductor will ask to see the tickets. A fine can be the result of having an unvalidated ticket, so be sure the conductor gets your ticket promptly
