Health

A sign with purple letters indicating a health center

Rather than going to a doctor, foreigners need to go to the emergency room for all kinds of health treatment, including dental work. There are two types of health facilities: hospitals and clinics (the term for clinic means literally "house of health" in Croatian). In some places the emergency room is in the hospital; in others, it is in the clinic. Foreigners are expected to pay for treatment and should have a passport as essential identification.
