  • Paying respect
    Paying respect to the image. The woman brought the flower that the image is holding. People paying respect have also put small pieces of gold paper on the image.
  • Monk blessing the people
    Monk blessing the people. He is holding a straw brush that he puts into a container of sacred water. The monk then sprinkles the water on the people to bless them.
  • Shaking a box of sticks for fortune telling
    The boy is shaking the wooden box filled with sticks. With practice a person can shake the box so only one stick comes out. The stick bears a number corresponding to a piece of paper which has a fortune printed on it. People give donations for the fortune telling.
  • Paying respect to the Buddha
    Paying respect to the Buddha. the little stand holds the incense and flowers. Do not step on the stand stairs, even to place something high up on the stand.
  • Monks
    Monks live at the temple and can be identified by their orange robes. The monks study the sacred writings, teach people how to behave well in society, and care for the temple. They play special roles in ritual ceremonies. Women should keep a respectful distance from monks.
